A busy Life

I have been so very busy with the family and life that I have not really had a lot of time to blog or do much of anything else. I have still been taking pictures like crazy but with the lack of time and energy , I have not been doing a lot of blogging. So what is new,,,, not much other than getting back into Tennis and spending time with the family.

Well until next time keep shooting,

Seth

Crystal Beach

It has been some time sinceI have written on my blog. I have been very busy working on my photography portfolio, and a heavy work loads make very little time to blog. I have been spending most weekends at Crystal Beach , working on my tan, and taking pictures of the destruction along with my family.  It is still amazing to go down to the beach and see houses misplaced, along with cars in fields still stranded. I am working on a book about the destruction, and the peoples experiences who went through the Terrible IKE Hurricane that destroyed so many lives. I will try and blog every week and let people know the status of what is going on with the beaches progress along with my book.

I just want to wish everyone a wonderful and Happy Forth of July. It is truly a time to reflect , and be proud that we are Americans and not speaking like our British folk on the other side of the pond. So, light the Barbecue Pit, toast your favorite drink, and enjoy our Independence. I have had quite a few days. I moved homes and it has been crazy. I hate moving, even though we moved to a larger house ,and a room that will be dedicated as my photography studio. It didn’t diminish that fact that it really sucked ,and the weather was as hot as any summer is in Texas. I can not express to you the heat that was coming off the cement the last few days and I was in the thick of it moving boxes, and beds. So have a great July Fourth, and be safe.

Keep Shooting,
Seth

Hello everyone,

I am working on a new website  titled www.sethsraderphotography.com check it out and give me feed back. I am doing this all on my own, so it is really rough. I am going to get a professional page made soon. In the mean time check this out, I will update it weekly. I also have a link to this site, because I enjoy blogging as much as the next guy. I have put a few of the pictures from this weekend on the Flickr link to the right. Check it out.

Keep shooting,

Seth

The Dog Gang

Once again I have been swamped with work, but I had my best week in the last ten months!!! I had very little time to play, but I did snap a few shots of the Gang. I really didn’t have a ton of time, so these are more snap shots than photo(composition, lighting, ect.) very off, but I wanted to put something up.. I have been looking for a new  computer for the last few weeks. I am doing the big PC to Mac transfer.. It is about time, and I am very excited about the new change. I should have the new Apple in the new few weeks.  So new week, I am going to focus taking pictures of people. But not just people , very candid shot of people. Try to capture a moment in time with the picture. I always shoot with the person on either the left or right, because it makes the picture more interesting. It makes the viewer look for what else is in the picture. I know I go back to the rule of thirds a lot but it really works. especially if you work with your depth of field. You can have some great shots and make people think that you know what the hell you are doing. Finally I am looking forward to going to the beach and spending some time with my family for fathers day. It should be a lot of fun, and there are always crazy and unique people at the beach to take pictures of.  I look forward to hearing comminets about my writing and what I can do better. Until next time this is Seth Srader saying ” Carpe Diem”

Ok, the assignment last week turned out to be quite hard for me. With the added pressure of work and the lack of photo time made it very difficult. Scott kelby made it look a lot easier than you think to take pictures of numbers. I can see if you are in a foreign country , their numbers look unique and different, but in a small town, they look all the same. So, the next assignment will be better thought out and more accessible to everyone. I had  a great time this past weekend helping a friend shoot a wedding. We had a great time shooting together, and the clients put on a wonderful even. So, back to the assignment, this weeks theme is going to be Animals. Try and shoot as many animals as you can. Dogs, cats, pigs, cows, horses, ect. Once again the object is to keep a set theme in mind and it will make you a better shooter. When I work of getting a shot, I try to focus on natural light. I feel that unless you can tone down the flash enough, it always looks blown out and unnatural. Keep a camera with you in your car, because you never know when the perfect shot is going to come up.   Have  a great week, and keep shooting.

This week , everyone go out and shoot numbers on the side of Buildings, street signs, and anything that has to do with numbers. Scott Kelby talks about this in one of his books and it is a great idea. They make a great picture collages that you can frame. The point was when you go around or you’re on vacation, People tend to take pictures of building and odd ball stuff.  So,when you get home you are left with a bunch of pictures of just crap and  weird junk, and you are constantly saying ” why did I take a picture of that ” or maybe that is just me. The point of the exercise is to have a goal. So, instead of just taking pictures of building and stupid stuff, have a goal in mind, and take pictures of a particular part of the building(doors, numbers,Windows).Use that particular  theme across all the pictures for a great compilation of photos. It will  makes for a more enjoyable collection of vacation pictures or photos in general. If you use this technique with all your photo’s and some basic rules of photography(rule of thirds), don’t leave to much space on top, frame your shot, blur out unwanted distractions.. ect.  it will make for a more eye pleasing image. So you now have the tools , so I will post my pictures over the weekend, and people please respond, so that I can post other peoples pictures as well.

Happy Shooting,

Seth Srader

We had a great time at the festival.. Here are some of the pictures that I had taken throughout the day.

I will be going down to Crystal Beach this weekend for a little crab and a lot of fun. Bolivar will be hosting it 24Th annual crab festival along with the second annual Stingaree Music Festival at  Gregory Park in Crystal Beach. . The peninsula is really starting to takeshape, and with a little luck, will be back to it old self in no time. My parents cabin was damaged during Ike but with a great contractor and a little luck, we will be moving back in this weekend.  I love this beach and all that it represents. The people here are always laid back and on what is commonly referred to as  Island Time. What that means is that they are never in a hurry, and everyone is living in the moment.. Like I said it is a great place to get away, and just relax. Many people were talking about not building back, but now the chatter is how fact can they come back. This beach has a special meaning to my family. My fathers goal his whole life was to buy a place at the beach and with hard work and a goal he made that dream turned into reality. Unfortunately, his cabin was damaged by  the Hurricane , but with a good insurance company “Farmers”, and a bit of luck, they were able to build back bigger and better. So I say , if you have time to, come down to the beach,  look around and have a great time.  I am looking forward to getting some great pictures of all the people  and sites around the festival. Please  Keep coming back to the site for new updates on the world around me with plenty of pictures to capture these moments in time. I feel that as a photographer, I am an historian of time and the people around me are my canvas.  So, everyone please be safe and wonder on down to bolivar peninsula and just  have fun.
